BUDDY

FROM PATRICE, S.A.V.E.

This is a picture of Buddy and his wonderful family. Isn't he so adorable celebrating the holidays, with his family and in his clown hat. What a great adoption!

FROM DENISE and HOWIE, BUDDY'S MOM and DAD

If you haven't heard by now, we adopted him! We are both head-over-heels in love! I am attaching some pictures of him from our first weekend together. Please share them with Sharon.

He is a very good dog, with only 2 little exceptions. The biggest is his chewing. We are working on this, and we know it will pass. We don't blame him, though, because he is still a puppy. I just wish he'd stop biting my ankles when I walk! :)

The second is that he barks at other dogs. This isn't too big of a deal, except he gets upset when he hears dogs barking on the TV. He doesn't know where it's coming from, so that just upsets him further. We just pet his head and tell him it's okay.

He is really a love. All-in-all, he is a VERY good dog!! We give him a lot of love, and he definitely returns it. He hasn't had too many accidents in the house. At first, he marked his territory a little bit, and he's peed a couple times after that. For the most part, though, it's just a matter of him getting accustomed to our schedule and us getting accustomed to his. We are still learning from each other.

We are a happy family, and this is definitely a successful match! We had friends over this weekend who want to find his brothers or sisters for themselves. They also fell head-over-heals for him!

Thank you so much for helping Buddy (the name we chose since he thinks every person was put on this earth to be his friend and play with him) become part of our family!

We recently had some people over who brought Buddy a clown Halloween costume. They captured him perfectly with a digital camera. His face is absolutely precious in this picture. I thought you would enjoy it.

It is good to hear that things are still going well with S.A.V.E.

Now for an update on our corgi/golden retriever mix, Buddy:

On April 23, 2001, Buddy's little sister Julia was born. These two get along so well!! Julia is now 6.5 months old, and she thinks Buddy is hysterical! She looks for him, reaches for him, and laughs every time she sees or hears him. They are best friends. He looks out for her, too. If she's crying and he feels she is not being tended to fast enough, he gets very upset and comes to get us. If they aren't playing together, he will occasionally stop chewing on his chewy long enough to check on the baby. We make a conscious effort to be sure we don't neglect our first baby. Buddy still gets the attention he deserves and is very happy with his family, especially the newest addition.

I will send you a recent picture soon. I don't have any scanned with Buddy and the baby together right now.

I LOVE my Buddy-boy! :) In fact, he is doing extremely well. Julia doesn't talk yet, but she knows how to say "Bu". She giggles when she sees him. She feeds him his food one piece at a time and her food when she is done with it. She pets him and snuggles up to him. She brings him his chewies, and even tries to let him chew on her toys (which we put a stop to immediately). Her favorite activity is to "walk" him (hold onto the end of his leash, which she only does if one of us is holding onto the leash, too). There's no way the two of them could ever be separated.

Denise

we love happy endings!
