FROM DAPHNE'S MOM, AMY
06.02.03

Hi, Sharon & Patrice.

I got an email from Patrice last week asking how Ellie Mae is doing. I sent a response, but found that it got kicked back to me undelivered when I got in today. So, I'm sending you both an email in the hopes that it'll eventually reach Patrice. Sharon, I think I sent you a Daphne update about a month ago.

Ellie Mae is now renamed Daphne (by my husband) and is doing just fine. She is a really friendly dog, who likes dogs and people. At first, she seemed more interested just in people, but now she is very interested in playing with our other dogs and is very attached to them. She has been spayed, had her final shots, and heartworm tested (it was negative) and given the heartworm prevention shot which all our guys get every 6 months. She very much enjoys her toys (especially rope toys and tennis balls) and chasing the other dogs around the backyard. She likes to kiss both humans and her dog boyfriend, Sam, a springer spaniel puppy we rescued last month. Daphne and Sam are crazy about each other. It's really cute. They literally kiss each other's mouths and they love to play together. (We are keeping Sam, who's a month or two younger than Daphne, so they'll get to grow up together.) Daphne is probably 35 or 40 lbs. now. She is still a slender dog, but very muscular. She is a very good eater. I don't think she'll ever be a heavy dog though -- she's just not built that way. I expect her to get to be around 50 - 55 pounds tops when she's done growing, and to be on the taller side; she's leggy. I'm guessing she's something like shepherd and whippet, and the whippet part will keep her relatively small and lean. She is an extremely fast runner. Sam cannot keep up with her at this point. Anyway, she's just fine and if I ever get myself to take some more photos (I am the worst photographer, so I don't take lots and lots of pictures to remind myself how bad I am at it), I will definitely send you some. What I need to do is get Richie to take them - then maybe they'll at least be in focus. Of course, if you're ever in my neck of the woods on the weekend (Bay Shore), you can give me call and come by and see Daphne in person.

Take care!

Amy

we love happy endings!
