ROSIE
FROM PATRICE, S.A.V.E.

Rosie is a Portuguese water dog mix that was found alone, lost, hot and exhausted in bay terrace. I fostered her for a year, juggling Rosie and my cats, and finally found the wonderful home for her that she needed and deserved. She was so happy to have a big enclosed yard to run around in. She loved Terri and Rich right away, and they loved her too! They told me at the time that now that they had Rosie their home was once again complete.

FROM TERRI, ROSIE'S MOM

Rosie's first day with us went fine. She met Kevin when he came home from work and they bonded immediately. (she gave him kisses), and slept in his room last night. She ate about 3/4 of her dinner last night, which I thought was pretty good, considering she wasn't really at home yet. She loves the yard, has had Rich outside several times already this morning. Right now she's in the house barking at the lawn man -- those mowers do make a lot of noise!

We're getting ready to take her for a walk. I'll keep you posted as to her progress. We love her a lot and thank you for all you did with her. I know it wasn't easy letting her go.

Sincerely,
Terri

—and in another update—
Wanted to give you the update on Rosie and thank you for all your e-mails. Rosie has adjusted so beautifully, and has us trained to do her bidding. She brings us her leash when she wants to go out front, she also brought it when she wanted to go out in the back yard when it was raining. She is just such a great dog. She makes me laugh at least twice a day. She doesn't cry when we leave (I listen by the door), but makes sure she gets lots of attention when we get home. She doesn't bark as much either.

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, but we have been busy with the christening, and work and classes have taken my time up too. Rosie is doing great. She keeps the yard squirrel free, and patrols the "borders" daily. She's met just about everyone in the family except my mom, who will be coming in this weekend. Rich takes her out in the front when he's out there working and puts her on a long tether so she can prance around. She really likes that. I saw Fran yesterday. She told me Sharon came out to pick up some things for the rummage sale. Hope it goes well, maybe I'll get to that. Keep in touch.

Love, Terri

—and in another update—
Been busy with school and midterms, watching my granddaughter and a couple of funerals. Rosie has survived it all. She's taken to sneaking in Kevin's bed after he falls asleep. Yesterday, I took a day off to get some things done around the house. Rosie was right by my side as you well know. I gave her a milk bone which she took immediately to Kevin's room, (he had already left for work) and came running back crying loudly. I asked her what was wrong, she ran back to his room and back to me, never letting her bone out of her mouth. I still don't know what that was all about, except that she missed him. Rich tells me she was crying at him when he took her in the back yard when he got home from work. (He usually takes her in the front on her leash) He figured out what the problem was though and she was all happy when they went out front. She is so smart and she is able to tell you a lot just by her mannerisms. I swear if she were able to she'd talk. She likes when the baby comes over. She smells her and tries to give her kisses. She still runs to get someone when the baby cries. I think she's met just about everyone in the family now, and those she hasn't will be here for Thanksgiving. Speaking of which, have a wonderful holiday. Send my regards to Sharon. I'll try to be more diligent in writing, but finals and papers are due, so you may have to prod me a little.

FROM ROSIE'S MOM, TERRI

FRAN SAID I'D BETTER SEND YOU SOME PICTURES OF ROSIE OR ELSE, SO HERE THEY ARE. SHE'S DOING GREAT, LOVES TO RUN , WILL COME WHEN I CALL HER IF SHE'S IN THE BACK YARD. WE KEEP HER ON THE LEASH WHEN WE WALK IN THE FRONT BECAUSE SHE LOVES TO RUN. SHE'S WELL SOCIALIZED NOW, DOESN'T GET TOO CRAZY WHEN RELATIVES AND FRIENDS COME TO VISIT, AND SHE'S GOOD WITH OUR TWO GRANDCHILDREN. THE OLDEST ONE IS ALMOST THREE, LOVES THE DOG AND LIKES TO GIVE HER TREATS. WHEN SHE COMES TO VISIT ROSIE TAKES HER RIGHT TO THE BOX OF MILK BONES. THE BABY IS JUST THREE MONTHS, SO ROSIE'S NOT TOO INTERESTED YET, BUT SHE MUST SNIFF HER WHEN SHE COMES TO VISIT.

AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THE PICTURES, ROSIE LOVES THE SNOW. SHE DIDN'T SEEM TO CARE HOW DEEP IT WAS, SHE'LL ROLL AROUND IN IT, RUN IN IT. I THINK SHE'S A PORTUGESE SNOW DOG, AS SHE'S NOT AS CRAZY ABOUT WATER. SHE LIKES SLEEPING IN MY SON'S ROOM, I'M SENDING A PICTURE OF HER COMING OUT OF KEVIN'S ROOM AFTER A LITTLE NAP.

WE LOVE HER VERY MUCH, SHE'S THE QUEEN OF THE HOUSE. WHEN I LOOK AT HER I OFTEN THINK OF YOU. THANKS FOR SAVING HER FOR US.
TERRI

we love happy endings!
