in memory
In memory of the homeless animals who didn't find a home.
May the broken hearts of shelter workers be mended, and may the lost animals be remembered with love.
When you adopt a shelter pet, you save a life!

S.A.V.E. – Animal Rescue Luncheon at Verdi's Italian Restaurant
Date: Sunday, April 6th
Time: 12 noon - 4 p.m.
Place: Verdi's Italian Restaurant
149-58 Cross Island Pkwy (service road)
Whitestone, NY
Tickets: $40.00

Dear S.A.V.E. Friends,
Hello everyone! It is really cold, rainy and nasty outside tonight, but next Sunday it will definitely be warm, friendly, happy and lots of fun, as S.A.V.E. – Animal Rescue volunteers, supporters, adopters and everyone who wants to help homeless animals gather together for the Spring Luncheon. There is always a sense of comradery and closeness as S.A.V.E. friends get together to talk and visit, show pictures of their pets and share in the satisfaction of knowing that just by being at the luncheon and participating they are helping to raise the much-needed funds S.A.V.E. uses to take care of the homeless animals . The more people say YES, they want to participate and help, the less we have to say NO when we get all the calls about animals in distress who need our help. If you didn't get the S.A.V.E. Newsletter with the luncheon invitation and you want to come to the luncheon, or you wanted to come but forgot to send in your response and think maybe it's too late to make your reservation, call Sharon the S.A.V.E. Director at 718-358-0774 right away and tell her you still want to come to the luncheon and she will make the arrangements.

**Hint Hint – I know for a fact that the raffle prizes and bingo prizes are going to be really good! We hope to see you at the luncheon!

MORE NEWS: Thanks so much to our wonderful Bowling Buddies, their sponsors, and our volunteers and supporters who made our Bowlathon 2003 such a big success. It was a great Bowlathon and we all had so much fun and such a good time! It was our most successful Bowlathon yet! Our Bowling Buddies are the best! You can see the Bowlathon pictures on our saveanimalrescue.org website.

IMPORTANT VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:
1. S.A.V.E. – Animal Rescue needs kind, caring, dedicated cat lovers (over 18 years old please) to help us take care of a small group of sweet, playful, fun, friendly adorable cats and kittens that we take care of in the little Kitty Care Room we've set up for 10 of our adoptable cats. You can see them on our website at www.saveanimalrescue.org.

We need volunteers who will be happy to commit to coming into care for the cats at a conveniently scheduled time in two hour shifts to feed the cats, change the litter boxes, and most importantly, socialize and play with the cats! We need volunteers who are neat, clean, gentle, caring, affectionate, mature, responsible and committed to making these homeless cats' time before they are adopted into a happy one. If you are interested in volunteering to help take care of the adoptable cats, please e-mail Anne at TOFAOF3333@aol.com.

2. SHARON'S TROOP of TRAPPERS We get call after heartbreaking call from people who want to do the right thing – they want to trap the stray cats in their neighborhoods, they want to help the new mother cats with litters of kittens outside alone in the cold, and they call S.A.V.E. and we want to help too but we don't have enough volunteers to send to help with the trapping. We are thinking to organize a little Troop of Trappers who Sharon will train and equip with traps, who will go when they get the call to trap strays so they can be spayed and neutered, and helped. If you are interested in volunteering to be one of Sharon's Troop of Trappers, please call Sharon at 718-358-0774 and she will call you to make arrangements.

Take care everyone. We hope to see you at the upcoming events!
best wishes from your friends at S.A.V.E.
